Mtendere Mission Hospital is warning the public to fight against cholera before the break out

As Health care service we're issuing an urgent appeal to the public to take immediate steps to prevent a potential cholera outbreak. With the rainy season approaching, the risk of cholera transmission increases significantly, and the hospital is emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to safeguard community health.

Key Preventive Measures:
-
Ensure Safe Drinking Water: Boil or treat water to kill bacteria and avoid consuming untreated water from rivers, lakes, or other sources.
-
Practice Good Hygiene: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and clean water, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
-
Proper Sanitation: Use proper sanitation facilities and avoid open defecation. Disinfect toilets and other surfaces regularly to prevent the spread of bacteria.
-
Handle Food Safely: Cook food thoroughly, especially seafood, and maintain cleanliness in food preparation and storage areas.

Mtendere Mission Hospital's Medical Superintendent Dr Miyoba Hebert emphasized the importance of community effort in preventing cholera. "We urge everyone to be vigilant and follow these preventive measures. By working together, we can protect our community from the devastating effects of a cholera outbreak."
The hospital is also distributing information pamphlets and setting up community workshops to educate the public on cholera prevention. Health workers are on standby to provide support and answer any questions from the community.
